After James Argent bravely confessed his addiction to cocaine last week, girlfriend Gemma Collins has vowed to stay by his side – if he can give drugs up for good.
According to a well-placed insider, Gemma, who has been dating Arg on and off for eight years, is delighted he has finally sought help for his drug issues and hopes this means they can now focus on starting a new chapter together.
“Gemma is really happy that Arg has finally come out and admitted it,” a friend of the couple told new. “She knows you have to admit your addiction before you can ever defeat it. They really do love each other so she’s willing to give it one last chance now everything is out in the open and she’s not having to deal with it on her own.”
Last week, Arg, 32, spoke out about the worrying extent of his cocaine addiction, which included solo drug-fuelled benders lasting multiple days. And our source has said that as well as pleasing Gemma, coming clean about his demons has done him the world of good too.
“He feels 100 times better now than before,” our mole explained. “He’s looking forward to the future for the first time in a while. He knows he’s got a long road ahead, but now he’s not on his own and with everyone around him, he knows he can do it.”
Arg also revealed that it was his 39-year-old girlfriend’s “tough love” that ultimately saved his life.
