Davina McCall doesn’t need the excuse of a New Year to get fit, but she’s determined not to drop the ball after an indulgent festive season.
Helping others as always, the Long Lost Family presenter – who is mum to Holly, 19, Tilly, 17, and Chester, 14 – offered her online fitness programme, Own Your Goals, for free to anyone who was interested in keeping fit and healthy during lockdown.
But her fitness empire is not getting in the way of her TV career. Now, more than 20 years after shooting to fame as the enthusiastic host of Big Brother in 2000, she’s back on screens once again as a judge on the new series of The Masked Singer.
Plus, later this year, she’s rebooting the iconic house transformation show Changing Rooms, alongside one of the show originals Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen.
Here, Davina, 53, tells us why fitness and family are so important to her, and why she wants to get everyone talking about the menopause…
Hi Davina! Last year was crazy to say the least. How did you stay fit during lockdown?
My routine didn’t change much because I work out at home most of the time anyway. The only things I could not do were boxing, which I do with a trainer as and when I can, and reformer Pilates, which I started over the summer. I switched that up for floor Pilates classes on my online fitness programme Own Your Goals instead.
Gym-loving men must have suffered during lockdown, especially as it’s often essential for people’s mental health?
