Coming in a respectable third place, Vernon Kay managed to make his kids proud after triumphing in the trials, whipping up some tasty castle cuisine and being an all-round top bloke.
“I’m over the moon,” the TV host, 46, confessed. “I’ve loved every minute of it. The best part of the experience has been the friendships we’ve made and the bond we’ve formed.
“We said on the last day, ‘This is it! There’s no show after, so we’ve done it, big tick, completed it!’”
Vernon has gone from strength to strength since moving into the castle and it’s clear he’s had a ball along the way.
“I’m feeling amazing, absolutely ecstatic. I’m over the moon to get third place because it’s been an awesome camp,” he gushed, adding, “I was nervous before I went in but it was everything I expected and more.”
Never one to shy away from getting his hands dirty, the star has shown the nation he can get stuck into any tricky situation – even commenting on the pleasant aroma of some of the critters he was dealt.
“You know what was weird about those spider scorpions? They smelt of aloe vera, so they smelt nice!” he laughed.
Vernon’s genuine character and team-player attitude impressed on the show – traits he found were important in the camp.
