Since finding fame on 2009’s American Idol, YouTuber and recording artist Todrick Hall has taken the world by storm. He’s been a judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race, performed in Kinky Boots on Broadway, won over a whole new audience as dance captain on The Greatest Dancer and last year went viral with his infectious track Nails, Hair, Hips And Heels. He also counts Taylor Swift and Cheryl Tweedy among his celebrity pals.
While isolating in LA, the 35-year-old recorded his new EP, Quarantine Queen, in less than a week. “I think we need something right now to uplift and inspire people to dance,” he tells OK!.
The video for Mask, Gloves, Soap, Scrubs certainly does that, with cameos from the likes of Nicole Scherzinger, Little Mix’s Jade Thirlwall and Princess Diana’s former butler Paul Burrell!
Here, Todrick reveals why he’s certain he’ll meet his husband in the UK and how strutting his stuff like Beyoncé brings him joy…
You’re BFFs with Taylor Swift – what do you love most about her?
I love her selflessness. Every time I introduce her to someone, she always remembers them. We have hour-long conversations and she’s always truly concerned about how I’m doing and genuinely listens. She puts her friends first. Her advice means a lot, coming from somebody who’s been through it all, several times, and come out stronger. Every time I talk on the phone with her, I laugh, but she’s also my therapist!
How do you feel about The Greatest Dancer not returning this year?
