Always Kabhi Kabhi we come across charming actors who disappear from the audience’s vision in a blink of an eye. But not this Fukrey guy who is definitely here to stay and be remembered for his performances. Read on as Khushboo Tiwari brings to you a testimony of meeting the man who is currently starring opposite Dame Judi Dench in an international film Victoria & Abdul, the one who was listed as one of the most desirable men in India and who continues to be the official heartstealer of millions of people out there - ALI FAZAL.
From being a supporting actor in films like 3 Idiots, Fukrey, Bobby Jasoos, Always Kabhi Kabhi; to lead roles in Happy Bhag Jayegi and Khamoshiyan; and to playing cameos in Hollywood’s million grossing projects - The Other End Of The Line and Furious 7, Ali has indeed come a long way to now being Abdul. His latest project from the West, Victoria & Abdul with Judi Dench and Eddie Izzard is the talk of the town and you bet, it’s ringing the right bells for him.
Meeting The Man Himself
It was at the trailer launch of Victoria & Abdul where I got an opportunity to meet this dynamo. Flashing his charming smile, sliding fingers through his glossy hair, Ali Fazal looked drop dead gorgeous and there’s no denial. I walked towards him as he looked eye to eye and shook his hand to mine, completely ready to get into a conversation filled with questions.
Bagging The Hollywood Project
Many wonder on how Ali bagged this Hollywood project and to answer the same, he said, “I was sitting at a meeting and I got tipped off about this movie happening. I did a little research and got in touch with Nandini Shrikant who was doing the Indian casting.”
Adding, “After a month, I had forgotten about it and that’s when I got a call saying, ‘yaar they really loved your scene and they want you to do something’.” Ali continued, “I went through a proper process of auditioning. I feel very privileged because there were some of my colleagues whom I respect and respect their work. And to be picked over them is I think already a big award for me.”
