Ingo Rademacher Reflects On His B&B Exit And Triumphant GH Return

After a 2017-19 stint as B&B’s Thorne, Ingo Rademacher returns to GH this week in the role that put him on the daytime map, Jasper “Jax” Jacks. The actor previously appeared from 1996-2000 and 2001-11, and popped in for visits in 2012, 2013, 2016 and 2017; this stay will be long-term. Digest spoke to the actor in the midst of his move from Hawaii to L.A.

Soap Opera Digest: Tell me how your return to GH came about. Ingo

Rademacher: It’s actually a good story. I’m going through L.A. County lifeguard training right now, which is something that I’ve always wanted to do. They told me they needed to do a background check, so I had to go through the process of contacting my former employers. I texted Frank [Valentini, GH’s executive producer] and said, “Hey, Frank, can I put you down as a reference? I need to do this background check for L.A. County lifeguards.” And he’s like, “Yeah. How are you doing? How’s the family? How’s BOLD AND BEAUTIFUL?” And I said, “Well, actually, I just finished on BOLD AND BEAUTIFUL.” So, about a month later, I’m in Hawaii and he texts me and says, “Hey, would you want to come back to the show?” And I was like, “Absolutely!” That’s how it started. I mean, I don’t know if we would’ve necessarily talked if it wasn’t for that, but I had to get all my ex-employers in line so they could do a thorough background check on me!

Digest: Had GH been on your mind since you’d finished up at B&B?
