Lucas Adams Exits Days

Lucas Adams makes an abrupt exit from DAYS this week after Tripp decides he’s going to leave Salem to attend medical school.

“It threw me for a loop for a second,” admits Adams. “I was like, ‘Oh, okay. Cool.’ I really like the idea of Tripp going to medical school because I think it’s something he would really enjoy. Back when he worked at the hospital, Tripp really liked helping people and that’s what he wants to do.”

So after saying good-bye to JJ and Haley, Tripp says farewell to Kayla in Adams’s final scene. “I loved having my last scene with Mary Beth [Evans, Kayla],” notes Adams. “It was really cool, because it was like first scene and then last scene. I had my first scenes with her and Stephen [Nichols, ex-Steve].”

While Adams saw the writing on the wall regarding Tripp’s future — “The character wasn’t doing much,” he acknowledges — he was still “a little surprised” by the move. “It was a couple of months before my contract came up that they told me,” he recounts. “But I understand the entire show is storyline-driven, and that’s just how it goes.”
