Days’s Greg Vaughan is thrilled to have the ultimate boys’ club at home.
“It’s the start and the end of my entire being,” says Greg Vaughan when asked what fatherhood and, in particular, Father’s Day, means to him.
Vaughan, a devoted and single dad of three, is in the midst of dropping off sons Jathan, 10, Cavan, 7, and Landan, 5, at various after-school activities when Digest catches up with him. “The everyday journey — it’s chaos at its finest,” sums up Vaughan with a laugh. “It’s just boys being boys ... interactive, engaging, full of questions. They’re blossoming every day and growing so fast. I’m just doing my best to have a tremendous impact on their growth, raising them from boys to young men. We have an open line of communication, from my oldest to my youngest. Everything impacts them differently. There’s nothing I want them to be afraid to ask. They can be crazy and ornery, or very emotional and sensitive. So whatever I face, I deal with it as I see it.”
Fatherhood has been a welcome life change for the actor. “It has its most challenging moments and most remarkable encapsulated in this role, for which I am truly blessed,” he reflects. “I’m juggling three opinionated young minds. My eldest is like the mayor. He got the most attention, as most firstborns do. He’s a very social butterfly. He’s very creative and shy at the same time. My middle one is creative in an artistic way, but he’s very sensitive. He’s a ladies’ man, loves the girls, and the girls chase him at school, so he finds that to be amusing. My youngest is fearless and because he’s the youngest, he’s learning everything at a much faster speed.”
