The aftermath of Abigail's stunning murder provided intrigue, drama and heartbreaking reactions aplenty as one Salemite after another learned the tragic news.

Upon finding his wife facedown on their bed, Chad rushed toward her and discovered she'd been stabbed. As he frantically tried to stop the bleeding, call for help and beg his beloved Abby to hang on, his desperation was palpable. Hearing Chad's anguished screams, EJ and Belle raced into the room and were shocked by the grisly sight before them. Chad tasked Belle with whisking his children out of the house, then turned his attention back to Abby, who lost consciousness. "Don't you die on me, Abby," he pleaded. Sadly, it was only the beginning of Chad's emotional breakdown.

Abigail was rushed to the hospital and Chad implored Kayla to help his wife, but she soon returned with devastating news: Abigail was gone. Having Abigail's aunt, the now grief-stricken Kayla, proclaim her dead added to the somberness. But it was Chad's refusal to believe it ("It can't be," he repeated) and EJ literally holding up his devastated brother that drove the awful reality home.
