Jamie Dornan: ‘FAMILY IS EVERYTHING!'

It seems like there is no escaping Jamie Dornan these days. While most of us spent the pandemic stuck in one place, the sexy Fifty Shades of Grey star trotted the globe to work on new projects. His jaunts took him to Adelaide to shoot

The Tourist, now streaming on Stan, and the UK to film his tear-jerking new film Belfast. The drama tells the personal story of 9-year-old Buddy (Jude Hill) who is growing up in the city in Northern Ireland during the ’60s, just as the 30-year period of violence known as “The Troubles” breaks out. Dornan plays the family patriarch, Pa.

After losing his father Jim Dornan to COVID-19 last March, the story became even more personal for the actor. The Fall star’s dad grew up in the same area as Buddy, in a family very similar to his. “My father was a man like Pa, as was his father before him,” the 39-year-old actor tells WHO. “If my family was put in that situation where there is danger outside the door, I can recognise the moves that I would make now as a father to ensure the safety of my family.”

What attracted you to want to play the role of the father in this family drama?
