Prince Harry: ‘I'll make MUM PROUD'

Through the drama of the past couple of years, Prince Harry has been keen to distance himself from his Windsor relatives. But there is one family member he is still trying to make proud of - his mum.

On February 10, the Duke of Sussex, 37, vowed to continue Princess Diana's unfinished” work as he urged the public to get tested for HIV in a video call. For the UK's National HIV Testing Week, Harry was joined in the chat by Welsh rugby star Gareth Thomas, 47, who announced in 2019 he had tested positive for the virus.

“Every single one of us has a duty, or at least an opportunity, to get tested ourselves or to make it easier for everybody else to get tested,” Harry says during the call. “Go and get a test. Let people know that you know your status. Do it, he urges.

In helping to break down the stigma attached to the virus, Harry is carrying on the work started by his mum in 1987 (see above). It was one of only six causes Diana continued to champion after her 1996 divorce from Prince Charles until her death in a Paris car crash the following year.
