Sam Armytage ‘THE BEST IS YET TO COME'

When Sam Armytage dramatically walked away from her role as the co-host of the then-No. 1 breakfast show Sunrise – one of the biggest jobs in Australian TV – she knows many people thought she was mad.

It was an unheard-of move in the ego fuelled world of television to simply step away rather than reappear on another network for a bigger pay packet.

Now, as she celebrates the one-year anniversary since she made that momentous decision and announced it on live television, Armytage tells WHO she has no regrets about her choice. If she has to think of one, it’s that she perhaps shouldn’t have waited so long to leave.

Before her casual catch-up with WHO, Armytage told a small group gathered at an exclusive lunch in Sydney on February 24 what led to the “huge move towards renewal and a massive new beginning of my own”.

She explained the tabloid press were behaving appallingly towards her, with reporters trying to sneak into her mum Libby’s funeral service and drones flying over her house to take photos of her wedding to Richard Lavender at their Southern Highlands property in NSW.
