The Queer Eye star sparks joy, one home makeover at a time

Talk about a perfect fit. Bobby Berk is thrilled to be putting his passion for interior design to good use on the hit Netflix series Queer Eye — and to witness how the show has a positive ripple effect on viewers. “Queer Eye helps the people who are on it, and it also inspires people to do good and spread that kindness around,” says the 40-year-old, who uses his expertise alongside co-stars Antoni Porowski, Jonathan Van Ness, Tan France and Karamo Brown to facilitate much-needed lifestyle overhauls. “It’s my job to go in and change lives with design.” Here, Bobby talks to In Touch’s Fortune Benatar about his partnership with Lowe’s Hometowns initiative, baby plans with husband Dewey Do and his love-hate relationship with celeb clients.

How satisfying is it to help people with their homes?

BB: It’s amazing. It doesn’t always have to be with money — you can change things for free with organization and cleaning. When you focus on making your home a sanctuary, it can really help your mental well-being.
