India's Heritage Sites

India has received many accolades and recognition from UNESCO which had already declared 32 Indian sites as culturally and historically important.

UNESCO’s list includes Ajanta Caves, Hill Forts of Rajasthan, Humayun’s Tomb, Mountain Railways of India, The Monuments at Hampi and Mahabalipuram. Kaziranga, Sundarban and Keoladeo National Parks, Western Ghats and Manas Wildlife Sanctuary are some of the natural UNESCO heritage sites.

At the 40th UNESCO meeting held at Istanbul in 2016, UNESCO had declared three more Indian sites as World Heritage Sites. This is the first time that any country has got three sites into the UNESCO list, at a single session of the UNESCO committee meeting.
