Does a free design education in London, plus help with travel and accommodation, tick all your boxes? Then read on and discover how to apply…
With British education costs spiralling, it sounds too good to be true. But there’s no catch: D&AD, the global association for creative advertising and design, has been running D&AD New Blood Shift, a free 12-week London-based programme of night classes for aspiring creatives since 2016. And it’s now returning for a fourth year, with applications open until 26 August.
D&AD New Blood Shift aims to provide young people without qualifications with a foothold into the creative industries, and promote diversity. Successful applicants will have the chance to develop and refine their creative skills through a range of workshops, talks from leading industry figures, and working on real client briefs.
And that’s not all. New for 2019, a £10,000 fund has been introduced to support accommodation and travel costs. Two students will be awarded relocation bursaries of £2,500 each, and the remaining £5,000 will be divided between all the students to reimburse travel costs, with priority given to those applicants who will be travelling from outside of the TfL (Transport for London) network.
