It may not be the biggest festival in Nepal, but it certainly is the most colorful one.
Often associated with colors, Holi brings out the fun sides of everyone. Primarily a Hindu festival by tradition but celebrated by people from all over the world, Holi sparks joy in all that take part in it. The festival in the Hindu culture marks the completion of winter and the beginning of spring.
Like every festival these days has a downside, Holi has its dark sides too that goes unnoticed. It is known to bring out the worst in people and steps need to be taken to educate the people and ensure a safe and fun-filled environment. Driving under the influence, harassment towards women and the abuse of drugs. Here are a few ways how you can make Holi a joyous occasion for you and everyone else.
Drink Responsibly
Often seen around the world are cases of driving under the influence. Tragic accidents taking place is mentioned in the news and lives of everyone involved in it take a turn for the worst. During Holi, a lot of people drink and drive. Driving under the influence is putting themselves and everyone around them at risk too. Though regular checks are done by the police during the festival people still feel the urge to drive under the influence. It cannot be stressed enough how much harm driving under the influence can bring.
Given that many people will consume alcohol on the day, it is important to be mindful about your surroundings. Keep your drinks to a respectable limit so as to not dampen the moods around you on an otherwise cheerful day.
