HONING HER CRAFT

MOSAICIST Teresa Mills loves introducing her work to visitors at the Craft Coop in the Nicholsons Centre, Maidenhead. The Craft Coop started five years ago, as a way of local craft makers having an outlet for their work, and Teresa is was one of the founders.

She explains: “Working with around 150 creative and supportive people makes the whole enterprise fun and rewarding. Plus, our shops in Marlow and Maidenhead now have a strong local following and the amount of positive feedback we get is really heartening.”

Teresa is always upbeat and struggles to think of anything that’s challenging about her role at The Craft Coop: “In the back of our minds we constantly have the worry we may have to move from one pop-up location to another. High street premises that we can use opportunistically when they are in between tenants, or places we can afford, are not guaranteed.”

Ultimately, what brings a smile to this lady’s face is “when people say something positive and ‘get it’! It’s wonderful when people do voice their appreciation for your hard work.

Tickled Pink at the Trust

Liz Broomfield is the first face visitors see when they arrive at Dogs Trust Newbury’s Rehoming Centre. She’s been receptionist there for 15 years and her role requires a very caring, patient and outgoing personality. “I’ve always loved dogs,” she smiles. “I own five myself!”
