A Tech Resolution

After completing his graduation in Kolkata, Gaurav Goenka had the opportunity of travelling with his father and grandfather on various business trips to more than 25 countries. In order to pursue his higher education, Gaurav went to Harvard University for an international programme, and then pursued his MBA in Global Business Management from Lausanne, Switzerland. He got the opportunity to experience the best business practices while pursuing his education in the United States and Switzerland.

With an aim to end water woes and help the water deprived parts of India, Gaurav has started Kindle Ventures, a start-up company that will change the scenario of water scarcity in India. Here’s what he had to say about his technology…

A strong business idea is the basis for starting any commercial venture. What business idea interested you to start your own venture?

Our core offering is what Mother Nature does. With increasing global warming and population growth, climate is becoming erratic. We have floods, droughts, and even heat waves, hence the need to replicate Mother Nature. What I wanted to do was to try and replicate it in an extremely cost effective manner, so as to make the business viable from a commercial standpoint. In addition, we have multiple numbers of patents on our systems.

Condensation from air is actually a very old concept, but we have been able to do it cost effectively, even after investing more than USD $10 million in Research and Development (R&D). Any technology is exciting and has a wow factor, but what will really make it stand out is the viability of the product and concept. There are many small companies, which claim air to water condensation concepts, but are commercially unviable. The purpose of any research and technology is only complete, if it is commercially viable and scalable.
