The current global pandemic has coerced businesses across verticals, to embrace new ways of reaching out by leveraging technology, media industry being no exception. The coveted mega-event, IBC Show, which is held at Amsterdam every year, is flanked by industry experts from across the world. IBC, one of the globe’s most influential media, entertainment and technology show, has always been an event underlined by the industry and for the industry. It allures thousands of attendees to the Dutch capital every year, and incorporates a magnanimous display of products, services, vendor solutions and exhibits pertaining to the broadcast industry.
Originally, the International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) has evolved extensively from its technical broadcast origins, encompassing the length and breadth of media creation management and delivery. It has established itself as one of the most respected and sought-after conventions, and it continues to go from strength to strength.
This year is no different, albeit, there is no physical show and the event will take place virtually. IBC has launched the IBC Showcase online, to be hosted between 8th and 11th September, 2020. Following the announcement that IBC2020 has been cancelled due to the coronavirus, Michael Crimp, chief executive, IBC, said, “Over the past few months, we have been keeping a close eye on the spread of coronavirus and the response of governments around the world. We have been assessing and planning for different scenarios, but it became clear that we would not be in a position to put on the kind of show that people expect of IBC; there were just too many unknowns.”
