WHEN the final whistle blew you would have been forgiven for being confused about which side had won.
The crowd of boisterous fans chanted Inter Miami’s name and the club owners whooped and grinned with delight.
But hang on: the team had lost 1-0 in their debut against Los Angeles FC – so why were the Miami fans so thrilled?
The answer is simple: after seven years of twists and turns, political battles and crushing disappointment, Inter Miami was finally up and running.
And no one was prouder than David Beckham, one of the owners of America’s newest soccer baby. Along with fellow owners Jorge and Jose Mas and Marcelo Claure, they’d wondered whether they’d ever see this moment.
In much the same way Becks is always front row at fashion weeks when his wife showcases her latest ranges, Victoria was there to show her support for her husband.
Their eldest son, Brooklyn (21), was in attendance too, along with his model girlfriend, Nicola Peltz (25), watching the game unfold at the Banc of California Stadium in Los Angeles.
Victoria shared a picture on Instagram of Becks looking dashing in the stands – to which the former Manchester United star replied, “It’s been a roller-coaster ride. I’ve had a huge amount of support from the family.”
He’s also showed that when he wants something, he isn’t easily put off. Especially when it has to do with the game he lost his heart to when he was a little boy.
