There’s nothing quite like the bond between siblings. And there’s no reason marriage should change that.
If you have siblings, you have felt that special mix of love, protectiveness, envy and annoyance at these lifelong companions. We can’t even blame the genes for it. According to a research conducted by Genex Diagnostics in Seattle, you share only 50 per cent of your genes with your siblings. The bond you feel is built over the years, and so, is as unalterable as your fingerprint. Still, this relationship too can suffer from stress, sometimes from a happy occasion, like a marriage. Siblings might drift apart due to physical distance or increased responsibilities. Dr Rachna K Singh, clinical psychologist and life coach, Artemis Hospital, Gurgaon, says, “We live in nuclear set-ups these days. But it’s necessary to make an effort to stay in touch with your sibling. You cannot take this relationship for granted.” Here’s how you can make the bond with your siblings stronger after one of you gets hitched.
