REMEMBER THAT dodgy dinner party on Corrie back in February when Eva Price burst into song? Actress Catherine Tyldesley, who plays Eva, blew us away with her fabulous voice then – and now she’s doing it all over again in real life with her debut album, Rise. ‘It’s a compilation of some of my favourite songs,’ Catherine tells Soaplife. ‘I cover some of the classics made famous by the likes of Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan and Doris Day, then there’s The Carpenters’ hit Close to You,  which I absolutely love. I’ve always sung and, in fact, it’s how I made my living between acting jobs before Corrie came along. I had a gap in my Corrie schedule and the chance arose to record this album. What an amazing opportunity! It’s a dream come true, definitely one off my bucket list and I’m thrilled with the reception it’s getting.’ Tell us more…

There’s a great variety of songs on your album… How did you decide which ones you wanted to record?

The classic ones were favourites of my grandfather, who was my absolute hero. My dad introduced me to The Carpenters and Close to You so that has special meaning to it, too. Other songs are just ones that I love, like Gloria Estefan’s Rhythm is Gonna Get You. As soon as I hear that, I want to get up and dance.
