Michelle Fowler’s surprise Christmas Eve return to Walford was great. The secret reason for that return was even better: teacher Michelle’s marriage was over after she had an affair with teenage student Preston Cooper!

That sort of crazy, impulsive behaviour, though, was nothing new to long-term Enders fans.

A teenage Michelle fell for the dubious charms of married Queen Vic landlord ‘Dirty’ Den Watts in 1985 and, the following year, she gave birth to their daughter, Vikki Fowler. The gymslip mum at least had the excuse of being a gullible teen back then.

She didn’t have an excuse for her next reckless bonk, though.

A huge ruck in 1995 between Michelle and best mate Sharon Mitchell’s estranged husband, Grant, was followed by a booze-fuelled coupling. The result: Mark Fowler Junior, who bowled into Walford last year and won over fans. He even, sort of, won over dad Grant.
