Will John and Kayleigh drive off into the sunset in the last ever Car Share?
LAST ONE COMEDY
Peter Kay’s car share
Holiday Monday, BBC1 Hd, 10pm
Peter Kay’s BAFTA-winning comedy series returns for one special final episode this week. The comedian reprises his role of supermarket assistant manager John Redmond and Sian Gibson is back as promotions rep Kayleigh Kitson.
Forced to commute together in their firm’s car-share scheme, John and Kayleigh went from reluctant travelling companions to friends and maybe more. At the end of the second series, Kayleigh told John that she loved him, but when he failed to respond, she stepped out of his car, and out of his life, apparently for ever.
Fans of the show were devastated and more than 100,000 of them signed petitions demanding another ending. Peter Kay, who along with Gibson is one of the show’s writers, admits he was stunned by the reaction.
