Standing 3,200ft high, El Capitan is a daunting challenge for even the most experienced climbers. More than 30 people have died while trying to scale the sheer rock face in Yosemite Valley, California.
So imagine climbing El Capitan without any ropes, harnesses or safety equipment, knowing that just one slip will result in instant death.
That’s the phenomenal feat that US mountaineer Alex Honnold undertakes in new documentary Free Solo, when the free climber attempts the first-ever ascent of ‘El Cap’ using just his hands and feet.
