A blind girl missing for years turns up with her sight intact in the compelling Netflix mystery, as star Jason Isaacs explains…
Few recent TV series have divided viewers and critics as much as Netflix’s supernatural drama The OA. One US magazine called it ‘just plain remarkable’, while another reckoned it to be ‘a haunting mess’.
Co-created by, and starring, Brit Marling, The OA was released by Netflix in its entirety a few weeks ago with virtually no warning or fanfare. However, word of mouth has quickly spread about the eight-part series that follows Prairie (Marling), a woman blinded in childhood who returns home after being missing for several years – with her sight restored and calling herself ‘The OA’.
Crucial to the mysterious events is Prairie’s encounter with Dr Hap Hunter (Jason Isaacs), a scientist researching people who have had near-death experiences.
We asked Isaacs to guide us through the show’s twists and turns.
