Well, that’s how Ioan gruffudd sees himself as the ITV drama Liar draws to a thrilling close.

The Most Hated Man In Britain

For the first three episodes of ITV thriller Liar, viewers were duped by the fake charm of slippery surgeon Andrew Earlham (Ioan Gruffudd) as he vehemently denied drugging and raping teacher Laura Neilson (Joanne Froggatt).

Andrew’s guilt was eventually revealed, and he has gone on to rape pregnant detective Vanessa Harmon (Shelley Conn) and slyly dodge attempts to bring him to justice. Now, as the series draws to an epic conclusion, will he finally get his comeuppance?

We spoke to Gruffudd, 44, who’s currently filming in Australia, about his hard-hitting role…

Andrew is certainly a nasty piece of work, isn’t he?

I know! He is a clever guy and covers his tracks, which is all part of the thrill for him. These sorts of people walk among us and it’s frightening because there are so many victims who are too terrified to come forward. I hope we’ve highlighted their pain.

What can you tell us about the finale?
