Tennis legend Martina Navratilova explores the world of transgender athletes.
Back in February, tennis legend Martina Navratilova faced huge criticism for saying that allowing transgender women to compete in women’s sporting tournaments was ‘cheating’. The long-standing gay rights campaigner – who has since apologised for using the word ‘cheating’ – is now exploring the issue for a BBC1 documentary.
Cameras follow the nine-times Wimbledon champion as she learns more from trans golfer Alison Perkins and Joanna Harper, a trans runner, who explains how her running times improved by more than 10 per cent after her transition.
