A high-school pupil in California is determined to play his part in history and become President of the US one day – and in Netflix’s outrageous and politically incorrect new comedy drama, viewers will see Payton Hobart (Ben Platt) do just about anything to achieve his dreams...
As the eight-part series begins, Payton is avidly studying former occupants of the White House, from Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan to Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, for insights into what it takes to get to the Oval Office.
When he realises that an essential first step to presidential success is winning his school election to become student body president, he assembles a wacky campaign team of advisors, a pollster and confidantes who suggest all sorts of underhand tactics to help him triumph.
‘The show is about the evolution of a true political animal,’ says American Horror Story’s Ryan Murphy, who co-created the twisted series. ‘Payton is a real anti-hero. I think viewers will love him despite the fact that he’s flawed. I’ve always been interested in ambition because I think power and ambition corrupt people and I wanted to write something about that.’
