Phillip Schofield is already in the festive spirit when he calls TV Times for a chat about his annual extravaganza How to Spend It Well at Christmas, which begins on ITV this week.
He’s been surrounded by terrific trees, dazzling decorations and potential pressies in his bid to smoothly guide viewers through the seasonal buying process.
‘It’s lovely – I get to celebrate Christmas early,’ enthuses the This Morning host, 57. ‘It’s an extended Christmas!’
This time, the three-part series sees Phillip and some of his celebrity friends test-drive gifts, toys and food to highlight what’s worth snapping up this year, and what’s best left on the shop shelves.
Here, Phillip tells us more…
Is it nice to be back for a third series of How to Spend It Well…?
Yes, there’s nothing like this on the telly. It’s lovely. It’s a good guide because there are all sorts of new and different products, and it’s a dizzying time at Christmas trying to find the right thing. It’s funny though, because everyone thinks we film it in my house, but I wouldn’t let a crew in there!
Did you try out anything you now want on your own Christmas list?
There was a simple Pictionary Air game, where you ‘draw’ in the air with a light pen and the picture comes up on your team-mate’s phone screen and you can record it, which is great fun.
In the first episode, you test gadgets and gifts, including electric bikes with the Corrie cast and pampering products with your wife Steph. Tell us more…
The electric bike was great. Where I live is hilly, so it’s nice having assistance! And Steph and I tried a fascinating LED facemask. Allegedly, you wear it and the years drop off. But it was expensive.
