Sporting heroes and best mates Freddie Flintoff and Jamie Redknapp on their road trip into the past

As team captains on Sky One’s A League of Their Own, former cricketer Freddie Flintoff and ex-footballer Jamie Redknapp have already enjoyed a few madcap road trips together. This week, the two friends embark on another adventure – to explore their respective family trees for the first episode in a new series of ITV’s DNA Journey.

There’s lots of banter, a fair bit of one-upmanship and more than a few surprises along the way as the duo find out about the exploits of some of their ancestors.

Here, father-of-two Jamie, 47, and dad-of-four Freddie, 43, give us a taster of what to expect…

Why were you interested in making this programme?

JAMIE We’re very proud dads, and family is key to us both, so that’s one of the reasons why we wanted to go on this journey.
