‘I don't know how she does it!'

He’s dived with feared great white sharks and scaled treacherous mountains, but Steve Backshall says he’s currently on his toughest mission yet: taking charge of three energetic toddlers while his wife, rowing ace Helen Glover, goes for gold in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics!

‘Looking after our three toddlers is probably the biggest challenge I’ve ever had,’ grins BAFTA-winning presenter and wildlife expert Steve, as double Olympic champion Helen prepares to compete in the women’s pairs this week with rowing partner Polly Swann.

Here, in an exclusive interview, Steve, 48, chats to TV Times about life with an Olympian…

How have you found time to chat to us with three toddlers, Steve?!

I’ve come to Penzance in Cornwall, where Helen’s from, so her mum can help with the kids. Else it wouldn’t have happened! Our little boy Logan is three, and our twins, Kit and Willow, are 18 months, so they’re all mobile and need a lot of attention. I love it though!
