Dame Joanna Lumley tells us why she loved exploring Paris, Rome and Berlin

Dame Joanna Lumley always relishes embarking on new adventures.

So the Absolutely Fabulous star couldn’t wait to pack her bags and head off to explore Paris, Rome and Berlin for new ITV travelogue Joanna Lumley’s Great Cities of the World.

Along the way, Dame Joanna will meet the local residents and showcase famous landmarks, as well as learn more about each city’s history and cultural traditions.

‘For people who’ve never been to these cities, it will be an exciting introduction,’ promises Dame Joanna, 75. ‘And for people who have, it will be a lovely opening of a secret cupboard door, looking into different and unseen parts of them.’

Here, Dame Joanna tells TV Times more about the three-part series…

How did you decide on Paris, Berlin and Rome as destinations?

We all rubbed our chins and thought we could do these three to start with and see how people like them. They are quite easy to get to and there’s the added advantage that I can speak fragments of their languages. But fantastic stories and people can be found in any city.
