It seems that whatever Brendan O’Carroll touches turns to gold.

Having already enjoyed success as his alter ego Agnes Brown in popular sitcom Mrs Brown’s Boys – which last year won the much-coveted TV Times award for Best Comedy – he then scored another hit last year as everyone’s favourite foulmouthed ‘Mammy’ in BBC1 chat show All Round to Mrs Brown’s.

And fans can expect more fun, frolics and celebrity banter when the series returns this week.

‘We’re thrilled we were given a second series,’ Brendan, 62, tells TV Times. ‘You don’t know until you put something out whether or not the audience is going to enjoy it, so it was great to get such a good reaction to it.’

Among the famous faces in this series are singer Sting and rapper Shaggy, former Spice Girl Geri Horner, and in the first episode, boxing champ Amir Khan and EastEnders’ favourite Danny Dyer. And, of course, lots of the celebs’ ‘Mammies’ will be there, too!

Here, Brendan tells us more…

We love it when the celebrities’ mothers dish the dirt on their famous offspring…

The magic ingredient of this show has been the celebrities’ mums. The star will start telling some stories but, as soon as they realise their mother’s coming on after them and is going to call them out, everything changes. Danny Dyer’s mum, Christine, was hilarious!

Ooh, tell us more…
