Suicide Squad star Margot Robbie is much in demand but she wants to play meaty roles rather than be a sex symbol Compiled.
SHE’S slapped Leonardo Di Caprio in the face, injured Alexander Skarsgård during the filming of a sex scene and has Prince Harry’s phone number – and texts him often.
Margot Robbie may be only 26 but she’s already forging a rather formidable path in the world.
The farm girl from Australia is Tinsel- town’s new It girl, landing parts left, right and centre and starring alongside some of the biggest names in the business.
Her latest role sees her playing Harley Quinn, the deliciously deranged girlfriend of the Joker in the eagerly awaited new super villain flick Suicide Squad.
The movie, out now in South Africa, is based on the popular DC Comics characters and boasts a stellar cast that includes Jared Leto as the Joker, Ben Affleck as Batman, Will Smith as Deadshot and Cara Delevingne as Enchantress.
“She’s crazy smart and creepy and violent,” says Margot of her character, a former psychiatrist who quits her job to become the Joker’s sidekick.
She says she was a bit nervous about taking on the role, which sees her prancing around in skimpy clothes while wielding her weapon of choice – a baseball bat. “There are obviously a lot of people I want to please and a character I have to do justice to. Hopefully I don’t disappoint.”
Suicide Squad has met with mixed reviews but Margot’s growing phalanx of fans love her regardless – they’ve called her “the perfect Harley Quinn”.
Just don’t dwell too much on her hot pants-clad derrière. “She’s wearing them because they’re sparkly and fun, not because she wants guys to look at her ass,” insists Margot, who has no desire to be a sex symbol.
