Fragrance is an intensely personal thing. Some of us are drawn to the smell of freshly cut grass, others to the flowery aroma of rose petals, while yet others prefer musky, heavier fragrances. With summer around the corner you might want to change up your choice of scent to reflect the new season.
In perfumery, the bringing together of various raw materials to create a unique scent is called the accord. An accord is usually made up of six to 10 components. Which accord are you most drawn to? Knowing this will inform your choice of perfume.
FRAGRANCE LAYERING
It simply means applying two (or more) fragrances to create a signature scent. “Think of it as a mood ring for your nose,” says Laurice Rahme, CEO of fragrance house Bond No 9. For many, this may be intimidating because there are myriad complementary combinations to understand.
