In 1904, Louis Cartier fulfilled the wish of aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont: to be able to tell the time in full flight, on his pocket watch, without letting go of the controls. 1917 - the Tank Watch
When the Tank watch was introduced in 1917 by Cartier, watches were traditionally round. Inspired by a drawing of a military tank seen from birds-eye view, the strap is for the tracks and the case for the vehicle’s interior. It has now become an absolute must-have in watchmaking.
