GUAN TAN Something Healing
WHERE: Hom Yoga, 491 River Valley Road
WHAT: Perhaps one of the best yoga joints in Singapore, Hom Yoga offers classes to suit your every need — from grounding Yin evening classes, to the energetic Power Vinyasa, and the demanding and disciplined Ashtanga practice. While they previously only had two studios in Raffles Place and Orchard Central, Hom recently opened doors to a spanking new outlet along River Valley Road last month.
WHY: More than mere physical workouts, instructors are dedicated to your holistic well-being. They read you from the moment you walk into class, watch your every move, offer you adjustments along the way, and gently push you along on those days you could do with a little help — by way of recalibrating what you thought you knew about yourself. Let’s just say that I always walk out of those doors absolutely spent from the workout, but with fresher perspectives on life after the much-needed me-time.
GREGORY WOO Something Comforting
WHERE: Auntie’s Wok and Steam at Andaz, 5 Fraser Street
WHAT: Among the dining establishments at Andaz’s Alley on 25 is Auntie’s Wok and Steam, serving Chinese and Singaporean classics prepared just the way it’s done at zi char restaurant but elevated with top-notch ingredients.
