Go Girl

BLOODY LOVE EMILY RATAJKOWSKI.

Sorry about the strong language two words in, but it’s rare you meet someone so refreshing, especially in Hollywood. Ratajkowski, 26, is smart, warm, funny, chatty, interesting and interested, collaborative, hardworking and, yes, physically gorgeous. We had never met before BAZAAR’s cover shoot in the California desert, though I knew a fair bit about the model and actor. Her controversial starring role in Robin Thicke’s Blurred Lines music video; her small part in Gone Girl; her memorable starring role — with bleached-blonde hair — in an episode of cult Netflix series Easy; and her internet-breaking topless selfie with Kim Kardashian (I’m one of her 13.5 million @emrata Instagram followers). I also read the piece she penned for Lena Dunham’s Lenny Letter and last year syndicated a US BAZAAR story featuring her naked on horseback alongside an interview with feminist Naomi Wolf (Wolf interviewing Ratajkowski). Our “formal interview” for this cover story turns into a full-day chat with Ratajkowski, the BAZAAR fashion team and photographer Pamela Hanson. We cover everything from Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why to the end of Girls, red wine (she likes Italian and Bordeaux), feminism, her Marc Jacobs Met Gala dress, a coveted pair of white Céline booties and how in two weeks she’ll move to Italy for a month to shoot a thriller with Breaking Bad’s Aaron Paul. Here’s what else I learnt about Emily …
