Growing Together With Love

CLASS 95 FM deejay, producer and presenter Jean Danker shares when she first met and fell in love with husband Glenn Ong, a ONE FM 91.3 deejay and senior presenter, and how she put together their wedding in just five months.

You and Glenn were actually friends for many years before you became a couple. How did that come about?

I’ve known Glenn since I was 16. I'd just started as a part-timer while doing Mass Communications at Ngee Ann Polytechnic, and he’d just joined the station full-time when we first met. It was only in 2009 that we started dating. After a week, we just knew we wanted to be together.

What made you fall in love with him?

He’s always been wonderful to me – as a colleague and platonic friend, and now as his wife. With Glenn, what you see is what you get; he’s a straight shooter, and I like that. I fell in love with him the night he picked me up for our first date. He had good ol’ Barry White playing in the car and that just cracked me up.

What do you love most about him?

I feel incredibly loved and adored by Glenn, and that feeling has never wavered. Plus, he lets me be me; that’s so important because I’m incredibly independent.

How did you know you'd met the one? 

It's been over seven years since our first date, and he still hasn’t bolted out the door! Seriously, though, I don’t think there’s such a thing as the one. Every day, I make that choice to be committed to him. I choose Glenn, every day.

You were both in long-term relationships before getting together. How have those experiences shaped the one you now share?

I knew I needed someone unwavering and solid. Someone who was sure of who he was, and who could be my rock. Glenn was that man.
