One of the leading men in the hit Netflix series Tiny Pretty Things, Josh Pyman is enjoying his time in the spotlight. With his broody looks and lean muscular physique, Josh has earned himself a legion of fans. Playing the character of Dev Ranaweera in Tiny Pretty Things, Josh traces his roots to Sri Lanka through his maternal grandmother.
Hailing from Brisbane, Australia, without any prior acting experience Josh won a place at The Screenwise Acting School in Sydney. Keen to excel as an actor, Josh continues to further his drama training at the Railtown Actor’s Studio in British Columbia.
Josh has previously appeared in Arrow as Farzd Qadir. He then went on to garner a Best Actor Leo award nomination for his first film, Plantonic in 2019, from the British Columbia Film and Television Industry.
Thrust into the limelight for his portrayal of Dev, the love interest of Shane played by actor Brennan Clost, the duo take credit for filming the longest sex scenes in the gritty drama which is streaming worldwide on Netflix.
Emerging as an integral character in the series, Tiny Pretty Things is an unsettling drama series about an elite Chicago ballet school, which features audaciously beautiful contemporary dance sequences, people thrown together from rich and poor backgrounds and a poetic narrative which explores and exposes the true cost of a dancer’s life.
What swayed you to become an actor?
I simply wanted a job that was going to be different every day. I wanted a job that would enable me to be creative every day, and I wanted to wake up and look forward to going to work. I knew deep down that I had a desire to do acting, so I just decided to take a chance on it and here we are.
