Whenever a watch enters an art studio where imagination knows no bounds, it comes out looking more than a mere instrument for measuring time. The stroke of artistic flair arouses emotions, opens up interludes and, creates spaces for spontaneity and recreation.

Through its Ronde Louis Cartier XL, Cartier introduces a new technique to the repertoire of Cartier craftsmanship: flamed gold. The method is inspired by the process of bluing watch hands in a flame that requires a perfect mastery of intense heat since the most precise temperatures are needed to elicit the colours. The pattern of the panther’s coat is engraved onto the 18-carat-gold dial, which is heated in a flame to produce an initial shade and repeated (again and again) until the full palette of colours has been achieved. Cartier has also chosen to pave the bezel of this watch in baguette-cut diamonds to enhance the brilliance of the ingenious creation.
