Stirring up traditional horology, they are creating far more than just thought-provoking watches, but also defining the new era in fine watchmaking in the process.
Independent luxury watch brands have always done things differently. Perhaps because they eschew themselves from trends, or perhaps they want to revolutionise the horological market, but one thing is for sure, they are choosing to be audacious and unconventional. They do not wait for their creations to become bestsellers before making the next move, because more often than not, they are too eager to transform a sketch into reality.
Take HYT, where co-founder Vincent Perriard was once quoted saying, “What seemed totally unthinkable, definitely crazy, has now become reality.” In essence, by achieving the incredible feat of showing time with fluids, with a capillary attached at each end, the hours are indicated by the coloured liquid that travels through the tube pushing the transparent one back into their reservoirs at 6 o’clock.
In 2013, HYT launched its H2 Collection with Audemars Piguet Renaud & Papi and managed under the supervision of Guilio Papi. This partnership was renewed in 2015, which saw the development of the H3 – and two more legendary collections were introduced in that same year: the Skull and the H4.
