Sitting in front of the mirror getting his hair and makeup done, Fattah Amin looks calm as a millpond. Early morning interview and photoshoot, the actor and singer is a seasoned professional, with a decade worth of prominent experience. If there are any perceived nerves, they come from the anticipation of what’s to come. He recently unveiled a new single called Kiriman Agung – his first attempt at spiritual music – and at the time of this interview, is in the midst of rolling out another song or two before the year ends while preparing for his latest role in Gangil, which is scheduled to release on Viu in 2021. As the saying goes: opportunity comes to the prepared mind – and Fattah’s strength lies in his connection to a positive outlook towards life and he is capable of utilising it to his advantage. That being said, you will never see Fattah blows his own trumpet. He is confident but not bumptious, and his self-effacement is refreshing. Although the year is fraught with social and economic uncertainty and recovery is projected to be more gradual than previously forecasted, Fattah is clearly on track in keeping the boat steady and in the right direction. “Even though this has been a challenging year on so many levels, I feel that there are still blessings to be found if you look carefully,’’ Fattah replies when asked what he has learned during these unprecedented times.
