Renowned jewellery and watchmaking maison Van Cleef & Arpels hosted a global event in our neck of the woods this year, following on the heels of a major exhibition in Singapore a few years ago. This one was in Thailand, duly covered in the pages of WOW Thailand. We think events like this one showcase the importance of our region, as a whole, to the watch and jewellery trade so we present a brief discussion on the Treasure of Rubies exhibition in this issue here in Singapore; we normally don’t get to cover jewellery in our regular issues so it falls to WOW Jewellery to pick up the slack.
Treasure of Rubies not only showcased a multitude of creations with a combined weight in excess of 3,000 carats (that is just over half a kilogram of jewels) but also offered participants an immersive dive into the spirit of the maison. Basically, gemmology and fantasy intertwine at Van Cleef & Arpels in the most loving way. Nicolas Bos, President and CEO since 2013, graciously answered the questions posed by WOW Thailand’s peerless editor Ruckdee Chotjinda.
Why did you choose Thailand as the location for this global event of yours?
