ALL TOO OFTEN WE ALLOW OUR FAMILY, FRIENDS OR CULTURE TO DICTATE WHAT WE DO WITH OUR LIVES TO THE DETRIMENT OF WHAT WE TRULY WANT. IF THIS SOUNDS FAMILIAR, A NEW HEALTH AND WELLBEING SERIES OFFERS ADVICE ON HOW TO FIND MORE JOY
When illness strikes, most of us are quick to book in a doctor’s appointment and soon enough our health improves. However, when James Colquhoun’s father was diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome, the prescribed course of medical treatment saw his physical and mental health declining even further. In search of a way to help his father, James and his wife Laurentine did their own research, and discovered the world of nutrition and natural healing. The pair left behind their jobs in the shipping and yachting industry and travelled the world interviewing health and wellness experts.
Changing minds
These interviews not only inspired James’ father to make changes and completely turn his health around, but also became the basis of their first documentary, Food Matters. Following that came Hungry for Change, and now 10 years down the track, they have turned their attention to the power of mind-set in their new documentary series, Transcendence: Live Life Beyond the Ordinary.
Spanning over five captivating episodes, the series looks at health in a whole new light, featuring interviews with inspirational folk such as Serbian tennis great Novak Djokovic, biochemical nutritionist Dr Libby Weaver and American TV host Marie Forleo. It touches on the power of food and nutrition, but also delves into important topics such as stress, fears, goals and joy, taking a closer look at the impact our emotions and self-limiting beliefs have on our health. “I think that we’ve underestimated the power of our beliefs and how they can impact the body, and I really feel that now is the time that we need to talk about this,” says James.
