Digi-care is all about data collection, collation and dissemination, using seamless connectivity
For years, healthcare IT administrators have been pushed to adapt new regulatory schemes and provide new functionality for providers and other staff. Security, unfortunately, has received neither the attention nor the funding required to ward off the smartest attackers.
Over the past few years, the face of Indian economy is changing; the flux is moving from a production to a service-based market and of the many industries that make up this tertiary sector, the healthcare industry is at the lead, bringing new inventions and large amounts of foreign direct investment to our country. But despite the advancements being made, one cannot deny that there is a huge gap between the rural and the urban areas in terms of provision of quality and timely healthcare.
Fortunately, this gap is now slowly being closed, thanks to the efforts of the up and coming digital healthcare industry! With the IT boom in India, digital health is fast gaining popularity – where a government hospital may or may not be functional in a remote village, the mobile phones and the internet cafés certainly work on a day-to day basis, giving these people access to the world. To capitalise on this issue, a large number of entrepreneurs are building digi-care businesses in health and bringing these people – so often left out of quality healthcare in the urban centres – to a global platform where they can help themselves. To that end, digital healthcare in India is a lucrative opportunity, indeed. The doctors, the patients and the IT technicians involved are all given incentives and the transaction proves beneficial to everyone.
