A style maven’s eclectic mix of design pieces takes flight in her expansive London apartment.
Walking into Alex Eagle’s lofty London flat, it takes no time to understand how her eclectic yet edited taste at home has translated into one of London’s coolest go-to lifestyle resources. The Alex Eagle Studio, and The Store Berlin and The Store x Soho Farmhouse showcase her trademark smart yet adventurous edit of fashion, home design and art. This all evolved quite organically when Alex was living in her first apartment in trendy South Kensington, working for fashion brand Joseph and styling for celebrities and friends. “They would come to my flat and comment on a mirror or coffee table or a picture and I accidently started selling stuff,” she explains, “and my then boyfriend – now husband – suggested I take a shop and do it up like an apartment!”
In her current Soho home, the light, open-plan living space creates a sleek but not sterile environment. A master of the mix, Alex’s interior style seamlessly marries mid-century modern, minimal, English, French and Italian designs that create interest and make it feel like a home that has been furnished over time. Each room is punctuated with the colorful and original eye candy of an interior addict whose books, artwork and objects appear effortlessly yet perfectly placed, and fill the apartment with personality. Some of her favourite pieces are the vintage Picasso and Hockney coffee-table tomes, and vases by Judith Hopf which Alex says would be the first things she would save from a fire.
