It’s the ideal compromise between working from home and functioning in a traditional office setup, making co-working spaces very much the flavour of the moment.
In an environment of rising costs and changing business formats, the office space too has evolved to embrace a more generous concept, that of working in the same space as strangers, who have only their office requirements in common. Maarten de Geus, Associate and Senior Project Architect, Concrete, the Netherlands, has an interesting name for this, calling them : business nomads, a new type of worker not bound by offices or conventions, doing business wherever the connectivity’s good and the coffee fresh”. According to Small Business Labs, an organization that monitors coworking spaces around the world, the number of people renting such spaces is set to grow globally from just under 1m in 2016 to nearly 4m in 2020 (The Guardian).
