A soft colour scheme adds to the cosy feel here. ‘This was originally two rooms, but we removed the dividing wall to create an open-plan space and added built-in bookcases,’ says Katie.

Creating a room that the family could snuggle up in was an important factor for Katie. ‘With the Christmas decorations up, this room looks even more special and is where we all gather in the evening,’ she says.
